As an atheist and a lover of good film I found this film interesting on so many levels. The acting and story were absolutely super. Such a shame we couldn't have gotten another few dozen films from Seymour Hoffman. https://ihatebadmovies.com

There is nothing in this film I don't like. For starters, the plot is interesting and historical convenient. A nun suspecting of a catholic priest molesting a child. And magnificently narrated with nothing more than that: a suspect. Nothing clear. Doubt. The job done by all the actors is amazing. The casting was perfect. Philip Seymour Hoffman as the amazed priest who watches as a nun is pointing fingers at him. Meryl Streep as the nun who has years of experience and suspects of him immediately. Amy Adams as the young nun who wants to believe the priest but is the first at suspecting. And Viola Davis as the mother of the suspected molested child who is actually suffering from domestic violence. The cinematography is brilliant with its pale colors through the entire movie to show the coldness of the school and how strict it is. One of the best films in the 2000's.

When one has absolute certainty without evidence, how can one say whether it's faith or delusion? Extraordinary script and performances, across the board. 8/10

'Doubt', starring Meryl Streep and Philip Seymour Hoffman. Now, it's interesting to note about this one that it's based on a Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning stage play. So not only is it very dialogue and character driven, but fortunately the writer/director of this film, John Patrick Shanley More

Knee-deep in the throes of my first love, I was quite surprised to hear that my lady's favourite movie was 'Joe Versus the Volcano'. (I still haven't seen the film). It dawned on me, when I wanted to check out an American film which, to my knowledge, had a plethora of fine acting, that this was writ More

There is wonderful scene in this film where "Fr. Flynn" (Philip Seymour Hoffman) tries to explain, using feathers, just how wicked gossip can be. He is the victim of such nefarious chatter - but is he guilty? Well "Sister Aloysius" (Meryl Streep) believes so. She sees the father with a student on th More
