The pace reminded me of some older horror movies, how they would slowly reveal clues to some bigger picture. Nothing special about that. If this really works or not depends if the clues and reveals are interesting enough. At first they were but after a while they didn't go anywhere new. Between those plot reveal points you've got the empty space to create an atmosphere and develop characters. The atmosphere was just good enough, and it also had a very classic horror feel (local isolation). The atmosphere from the setting and some scenes could have been exaggerated and amplified a lot more. I didn't feel uncomfortable watching this movie, and I should have. I didn't think the main character was as interesting as she could have been. Even giving her a simple flaw or challenging her emotionally at times would have made her more real (she was emotionally challenged one hour into the movie and it didn't work and was too late). She was also unaffected by things that would have been deeply unsettling. That kind of misses the point of horror. The other characters/inhabitants hit their mark in a collective sense but when you look at them individually they're not very interesting. The whole movie just seemed to revolve around the supernatural mystery at a gentle pace.

So it starts off with a slow and comfortable formula that seems promising enough but it... I would say it falls apart, but it never had anything developed that could fall apart. This movie seems is was made by someone who only uses horror clichés.
Oddky enough, it could have been great.
