Don't Breathe 2 is a sequel to the 2016 hit movie Don't Breathe, which was made for a low budget and received positive reviews. However, simply because the first movie performed well, does not necessarily mean that a sequel was a good idea. In this case, Don't Breathe 2 fails to live up to the expectations set by its predecessor. The movie follows Norman, a blind Gulf War veteran with a history of kidnap, rape and torture, as he fights for survival alongside a young girl named Phoenix. The movie is grim, depressing, uninspiring and unexciting, and it lacks the tension and atmosphere of the first movie. Additionally, the movie is asking the audience to empathize with and side with Norman's character, which is not well-received. The movie is not well acted and there are no interesting lore additions or new characters of note. The runtime is short which limit the damage but overall, this movie fails to bring anything new to the table. The reviewer didn't have high hopes for this sequel, but it still turned out to be one of the worst movies of the year for them.
