What I expected; Forgettable entertaining folk horror flick. What I got; Supernatural art house drama with layers of culture, history, comedy and tragedy all in one and in line with polish cinematic heritage. Fuck me like a band leader after the gig. This is brilliant.

One of the most tense and satisfying experiences I've had in a very long time. It's essentially a wedding scene haunted by the specter of a Dybbuk. The supernatural elements are just a piece of what is ultimately, a powerful vehicle for telling the story of a generation unable to own up to the horrors their country was complicit in. There’s something so unsettling about the various characters’ individual responses to ghosts that refuse to stay conveniently buried. The lead performance by Itay Tiran is quite captivating. The tension is effectively built, the drunken escalation is captured in a terrifying way, and pitch black humor are so strong it’s impossible not to watch the film without laughing out loud. It's one of those films that gets better as you think about it. Definitely worth watching for fans of unconventional horror films.
