:heart:x7 I really enjoyed this. A little time travel, a little environmental propaganda, a little love story. How I rate: 1-3  = seriously! don't waste your time 4-6  = you may or may not enjoy this 7-8  = I expect you will like this too 9-10  = movies and TV shows I really love!
Trying out a Dutch sci-fi film...it seemed promising from the description, but was unfortunately quite boring and possessing a rather basic and mildly interesting plot. This felt like it could be a kids movie but it is filmed and paced like an adult film...so not sure what the intended audience is. I liked that it was a pro-environment film and had some solid special effects, but there wasn't enough here to care and stay very interested.
Tremendously bad writing. Plot holes, plot convenience, nonsensical elements, artificially smart/stupid characters. Even if the target audience is less than 10, it doesn't have to seem like it was written by someone less than 10. I had low expectations before I started and I was still disappointed.
I must disagree with some other reviewers. Although my rating is excessive (because I just really enjoyed this movie), it still was well done. The CGI does not have problem, VFX are all very well done, script is very good, and Kika's acting is excellent. Despite the character's being 12 years old, Kika plays her with a mature seriousness which makes the difference between her mental age and her physical age believable. The ONLY thing I found a stretch was the character of Altan Aslan (not his acting, but the writing of his role), who seems to go from farmer and capable auto mechanic to programmer capable of improving on 2050 technology (?? really??). Yes, this film is eco-prop, and yes, Dahj, dilemmas resolved more easily than they would have in an "adult" fllm, but it was NOT a stupid plot (like those of so many kid flix), and on the whole it was very well produced.
Really important topic, no money to bring it to the audience
Common Dutch movie, normally I hate Dutch movies and TV series because they have bad acting, but I like science fiction, so I watched Captain Nova. It's a little bit good movie, story is cheap and ok. Too bad the story is a bit too short.
I seriously wanted to kill myself when watching this.. 15 minutes more than enough..talked my self off the ledge 0/10

I've read comments on IMDB that this is poor writing, a poor execution etc. Then I saw the beginning and wanted to defend this movie as it simply looks like a low-budget production / indie movie. However, after a few minutes I kinda really wanted to abort watching it. I hate aborting movies though and it was just good and short enough to give it a chance. Normally, I'd give this a 4.5/10 (between a waste of time and just ok) but given that this surely has to be a low-budget production (it shows in many places - script/writing, sound effects, props, acting, and even CGI) I'd give it a 6/10. I also assume/hope that the target audience are children (<= 12 years old; maybe up to 14 or 16 years in some cases but I doubt it's really enjoyable for adults). For that audience this movie might even deserve 7 or 8 out of 10. Anyway, I'm an adult (mid 20s) and still like teen movies and even some kids movies (plus family movies like from Dreamworks and Illumination Entertainment) but here is my brutally honest review: It's just too silly and makes very little sense. A few minutes in I thought "Oh dear... :o". It's cheap, full of plot holes, the two kids have it easy going (everything works out for them despite very bad planning), etc. As a result if felt silly (and cheesy at times) and was occasionally a bit painful to watch (luckily I could also laugh about some silly moments). According to the story Captain Nova is only physically young again but she doesn't act like a 37 years old woman at all... She's shy (despite having that AI drone and a gun), she's naive, not that intelligent (she could be a lot more convincing but she isn't gut at arguing/communicating either), etc. Anyway, might be fun for kids (I might've even enjoyed it as a kid) but I cannot recommend it for adults (but it's probably fine for parents).
