This is the true story of Bobby Kent, a teen bully in the suburban town of Hollywood, Florida. Eventually, his best friend and girlfriend team up with the various other kids that are tired of getting beat up by him. Included in that group are the overweight Lisa Connelly. Together, seven teenagers lure Bobby out, deep into the swamp, promising him sex and drugs and when they get there, they beat him to death with baseball bats....

Based on real events, the movie paints an impactful portrait of the daily lives of young people trapped in idleness and futility, plunged into an existential void. Their actions, absurd and motivated by banal reasons, trigger events that escalate to disturbing extremes. These choices not only transform their lives, but also further disrupt their families, who remain passive and unable to react to the absurdities around them. With outstanding performances, the cast gives an intense veracity to the narrative, full of disturbing moments that reinforce the heavy and uncomfortable atmosphere.

I wasn’t caring much for the film in the first 30 minutes or so, but it did get better as the story progressed. There’s some messed up people out there.
