Low-level bureaucrat Sam Lowry escapes the monotony of his day-to-day life through a recurring daydream of himself as a virtuous hero saving a beautiful damsel. Investigating a case that led to the wrongful arrest and eventual death of an innocent man instead of wanted terrorist Harry Tuttle, he meets the woman from his daydream, and in trying to help her gets caught in a web of mistaken identities, mindless bureaucracy and lies.

Brazil has been on my list of shame for a while. i dont know why i never got to it, especially in my early 20s. now, much like Trainspotting, it saddens me how much of my life has been lived without this movie in it. dystopian future run by bureaucracy, oppressive machinery, wwii Britain vibe, CYA at all costs, that over-the-topness that gilliam pulls off with such finesse. this is a movie only gilliam could pull off well. in the hands of most others, it would be an absurd travesty. while i loved every viewing of Naked Lunch ive had over the years, i wish this had been substituted for a few of them. grey steampunk.

What a mad film with an odd cast, I love it thought, and that's what you get with Terry Gilliams films. I've seen them all and this comes off the madness to me. I thought I'd understand it even more the second time around but i was bloody wrong. It came of even more mind blowing. ha

The fact that this movie has some stunning visuals and quirky characters can't disguise the fact that it's boring. Some consider it Terry Gilliam's masterpiece but "Monty Python and The Holy Grail" and "12 Monkeys" are much more entertaining films. I didn't care about the lead characters in "Brazil" either. I thought they were thin and dull with only Robert DeNiro's appearance worthy of note.

A smart critic against the bureaucracy, certainly is one of the craziest movies that I've ever seen! The story remembered me a lot one of my favorite books: 1984. This movie got to show all the horror of its universe and the ending is great!

Terry Gilliam’s Brazil certainly deserves credit for being ahead of its time. Originally conceived with the tongue-in-cheek working title 1984 ½, the film was clearly intended as a nod to Orwell’s 1984. While it doesn’t reach the same thematic depth as Orwell’s work, it still offers an inte More

How do I talk about _Brazil_? That's a question I've been asking myself for a while. It’s an intricate and bizarre film that’s open to interpretation.

The disturbing nature of its dystopia is made clear early on. Despite its aesthetic prowess, its labyrinth of bureaucracy is dehumanizing and More

**A film that was enough for more than one review: dream, nightmare, utopia and reality.**

It was in 1939 that composer and singer-songwriter Ary Barroso released the iconic song “Aquarela do Brasil”. This samba became an icon of Brazilian music and was sung and disseminated by such noble voi More

One of my all time favourite sci fi movies. Set the bench mark for modern sci fi, should be considered a great like Blade Runner.
Great acting, story, soundtrack! 5/5
