The first half of the 90s in particular was not the best time for horror films, and “Body Snatchers” is no clear exception for me. There is hardly anything left of the suspense of the first two film adaptations. Furthermore, the movie looks okay but not necessarily outstanding, and the cast is also somewhat weaker. The military setting also pales in comparison to the big city atmosphere of the 1978 film.

Worst of all, though, is the “romance” between the characters of Gabrielle Anwar and Billy Wirth, who have no chemistry whatsoever, with Wirth's Tim giving off massive creep vibes rather than being romantic. And as expressionless as Wirth performs, no one can tell me that he isn't a pod person throughout. On the positive side, I would mention a few decent effects and the fact that the pacing, which is far too slow at the beginning, improves towards the end. But that's not enough for a good movie overall.
