Overview

Nada is a young woman leading a double life. During the daytime she’s quiet and reserved, but after dark she dives into the nightlife of Tunis and picks up men. First, she lets them tell their stories – as she doesn’t speak, she acts as a kind of confidante – then beats the hell out of them. When a new colleague, Noura, arrives at her workplace and Nada finds a mythical knife at the home of one of her victims, events are unleashed over which Nada has less and less control.

Featured Comments/Tips

This film about a female serial killer has the feel of a pretentious student film. Usually shot in a black and white film to distract from an empty plot and pretentious dialogue. So obnoxious and pointless. I guess I’m just sick of this type of film. It's too much art and no substance. And it's not entertaining enough to justify the lack of substance. The repetitiveness makes it so boring and aggravating to watch and it falters in delivering any actual tension or scares. The lead is completely soulless and has no clear motivations as to why she commits these crimes. A true waste of anyone's time. I guess pretentious film students are the only people that would like this.

[IFFR] With references to '#34;Dressed to kill'#34; (Brian De Palma, 1980) or '#34;Ms. 45'#34; (Abel Ferrara, 1981), and with a clear parallel with '#34;Promising young woman'#34; (Emerald Fennell, 2020), this revenge story shot in black and white exposes the situation of women in Tunisia through an intelligent exercise of film noir that does not try to make a psychological portrait, but rather to expose a character who responds to sexist violence with physical violence. It is one of the virtues of a film that introduces new codes in Arab cinema.
