Completely absurd, but *so* much more fun than it ever had any right to be. It's like the writers saw Back to the Future and thought, "it'd be fun to write a time travel movie about two high school friends who were as big of burnouts as we were at that age" and then totally ran with it. It's just so totally over-the-top but completely embraces the absurdity to make it work. And even though I know it's not her, my brain ***still*** just believes that's Winona Ryder playing Joan of Arc.

I always forget about when rewatching it, so "Nah, just got a minor Oedipal complex." always gets a huge laugh out of me.

Also, I was raised in Mesa, Arizona, where a bunch of the modern San Dimas scenes were shot, so it's always wild to see Napoleon going down the slides at Golfland Sunsplash. And the Circle K where they first met Rufus was still there on Southern and Hardy in Tempe until it was sold in 2022; on its last day in operation, a locally-owned theater chain held a screening of Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure to give it a final send-off. Damn thing was sold out almost as soon as they announced it, so I couldn't attend, but I did have a friend living across the street so we just took some folding chairs to his patio's roof and enjoyed the show.
