Darcey is a poor alcoholic who puts hands on his gf (an obviously most dishonorable trait)
Ben (our gender swapped Lizzy) is the successful lawyer?
Bingley is incredibly poor and below Jane? and Ben talks Jane into breaking up with him?
Wickham is also a successful lawyer not a con artist?
Lady Catherine is a hag? (really weird and ngl it took me a minute to realize that is who she was supposed to be)
Dialogue is awful, and acting is not good. The quality of acting is about a middle or high school play?
This goes beyond a retelling or gender swap that turns the story on its head. If i didn't realize this was a P&P adaptation going into it I don't know (outside of the names) if I would have guessed it was one?

There is no real build up of emotions or attraction and Darcy literally does not comes to terms with his being gay until the LAST MINUTE literally. 1h31m he is in denial and 1h32m he decides to go to ben and then the movie ends immediately. (it is less than 1hr 40m WITH credits so the time stamp here is wrong.) If he were just closeted the whole time and you saw glimpses of him falling for ben vs him being in denial it would have come across better..

I get that they gender swapped and class swapped most everyone but all the motivations from the original either don't make sense or are absent completely. This is the least true to P&P adaptation I've seen (granted I have a few left on the list to watch ) the inspiring book is there in character names alone really.

A pretty painful watch indeed.

I would advise my P&P friends to avoid this one, which is saying something because I've now seen 21 of the available 31 adaptations of P&P and this is the only one I've thought didn't have anything worth watching for.
