Alone with You(2022)

A movie with a minimalist approach that presents a good story. Despite a certain predictability, everything works very well because the main focus is on development. The plot builds gradually, culminating in harrowing and claustrophobic moments. The cinematography is excellent, creating striking scenes with peculiar camera angles and movements. The highlight is Emily Bennet's outstanding performance, which drives the film in an extraordinary way; her expressions, dialog and actions are key to establishing the pace and the sense of despair.

This film reminds me a lot of _Knocking_, we're basically watching a mentally ill woman devolve further and further into insanity. I mean there's nothing wrong with it. It's a well-made film with a strong central performance but the ideas feel stretched and way too long for its own good. Though there are things that I like, it plays with the usual psychological thriller tropes without adding something special to at least make it more interesting and it meanders too much to fully work. The mystery aspect of it is way too predictable and it just moves around until it arrives at the conclusion that everyone's expecting. The best thing about it is of course Barbara Crampton, even though she appears only like 10 minutes. Overall it's a nice effort but it would function better as a short film.
