All That Breathes

The documentary "All That Breathes" is about Muslim brothers from New Delhi who have dedicated their lives to saving endangered black kites. The mood of the film is haunting, almost apocalyptic. The birds are in danger because of extreme air pollution, among other things. In addition, their habitat is being destroyed more and more by humans. Accordingly, the brothers' mission seems hopeless from the start. At the same time, the film also deals with other topics. In the background, issues such as religious discrimination and other socio-political problems are adressed. For me personally, it was all a bit too depressing. There are a few moments of beauty, but they are too rare. Instead, there are way too many depressing parts. A better balance, in my opinion, would have been beneficial. Ultimately, however, the documentary is still interesting. Great images and intriguing protagonists are definitely featured. To a certain extent, that should be more than enough.
