I think the problem with this movie is that it assumes you've read the comics before you watched this. I hadn't and so to me it felt like the story jumped all over the place and lacked coherence.

Based on one of DC’s bestselling comic runs, _All-Star Superman_ is a daring and ambitious adventure that’s unlike anything that Superman has faced before. When Superman is irradiated with a lethal dose of solar radiation he’s given a few weeks to live, and uses the time to set things right with his friends and enemies. Unfortunately, the film tries to cram in too much, and it ends up diminishing and cluttering up the story. And while the animation is quite vivid, it’s not especially impressive or well used. An unfocused mess, _All-Star Superman_ fails to live up to its rich source material.

A host of competing plotlines and subpar animation, but it's nice to see a character-driven DC Animated Film.
