During a solo voyage in the Indian Ocean, a veteran mariner awakes to find his vessel taking on water after a collision with a stray shipping container. With his radio and navigation equipment disabled, he sails unknowingly into a violent storm and barely escapes with his life. With any luck, the ocean currents may carry him into a shipping lane -- but, with supplies dwindling and the sharks circling, the sailor is forced to face his own mortality.

this is weak, really weak. so cliched, you already know exactly what happens, tired old crap. the protagonist is a fucking idiot who you prey for his death.

Snore... no diaglogue. Got pretty boring towards the end. I preferred open water to this.

All is Lost present us a man in a boat and it's everything we get. No back story, we don't know absolutely nothing about this man's life, the only thing we really need is to follow the most complicated part of his journey in the sea. The struggle of a man for his life when there is nothing he can do to fight against nature. There is almost no dialogue but despite that, this film never bored me! Visually it's great and the ending scene is absolutely beautiful. Robert Redford is the only star of this film and he really shines with an intense and gritty performance. An amazing one man show!

If you are expecting to be dragged through a roller coaster of action and excitement, you will certainly be disappointed. What I acquired from this movie is the stream of bad luck which this sailor was exposed to and his wit in attempting to stay alive. Well played Redford, very thought provoking.

I think you can only appreciate this film if you know what to expect. It's not a block buster, it's definitely not dialogue heavy (far from it!) and I have to say it's not a movie you should expect to like. I think this is a great piece of acting, direction and story line given the setti More
