In 1957 a fiery object crashes into a mountaintop in the California desert, bringing the threat of disaster to Earth. Out of the flying saucer escapes a murderous creature, the Ghota, bent on destroying all life forms on the planet. A benevolent alien from the spaceship, Urp, inhabits the body of Ted Lewis, an astronomer and with the help of Tammy, a diner waitress, sets out to save mankind.

I entirely missed why this movie existed. Or how it had such high ratings. Another unoriginal modern version of the ham 1950s scifis equivalent, with the gimmick of using 1950's quality special effects. And having Robert Patrick. I'm assuming it is a fan-fiction tribute to the 50's, and it might have been ok as a project for some film making course, but it shouldn't have been released to the world.
