this definitely feels like a movie by straight people trying to profit of a community they're not a part of (and even making a mess along the way) for straight people. there's biphobia, transphobia, acephobia, walking stereotypes, a scene that pictures being a lesbian as being a choice, etc etc. cmon. a gay movie where 95% of the movie is hetero? [spoiler] the only gay thing we see is two kisses, meanwhile the rest of the movie is hetero. we got full het sex scenes that made me want to hide in a corner in awkwardness and cringeness. they were so long it made me uncomfortable. you know, cause all lgbtqia+ ppl want is to see heterosexual /attempts/ of sex. [/spoilers] it definitely feels like the movie was trying to apeal to straights, being 'gay' without actually having to be 'gay'. just straight with a pinch of gay in the middle and end.
the story was generic, didn't make sense in some parts, had some holes, the ending was predictable, entire characters didn't make sense.... urgh. you can predict what's gonna happen in the entire movie from the first minutes. except for Alex's sexuality, you really think he is gonna figure he is bi, the whole movie points towards bi, and then boom. gay. it goes against what the movie hinted till then. i know comphet exists, but what Alex felt for is girlfriend didn't feel like comphet cause he genuinely seemed to love her. he genuinely seemed to be into girls too. therefore: bi. but no, gay.
would not watch again and would not recommend to anyone. it really looks like it was written by straight people. and if it wasn't, well, it's not a good representation because it's filled with dumb takes. 'why don't you just come out?' 'i hate men. maybe i'll become a lesbian.' 'you haven't had sex yet??? you're not a man. your dick just fell.' and a lot more. i could keep writting all the dumb takes in this movie but it would take to long so i'll leave it at that.
