A well-known actress investigates a video she's received of a young girl in a remote village hanging herself because her family won't let her attend acting school...

There is not a lot to dislike in _Three Faces_, which explores the perception of actresses in Iran (it's a wonderful career, as long as she's not someone we know) as well as life in isolated regions there, and while there's enough to like in this movie, there's not a lot to love. The simple film does little more than scratch the surface of Iranian culture and leaves us wanting more.

That said, I don't want to denigrate the incredible work done by director Jafar Panahi who, with this project, delivers his fourth 'illegal' film, for he is 8 years into a 20-year ban on filmmaking imposed on him by the Iranian government. His passion for filmmaking and love of the art should serve as an inspiration to those hoping to break financial records with _Ironman 12, part 2_.
