I was a little bit surprised that I liked this movie as much as I did. Many of the reviews that I read said that it wasn't as good as the original. Of course, the fact that I never saw the original may have been to my advantage. The film stars Russel Crowe and Christian Bale in the lead roles. Crowe's character is the stereotypical bad guy and Bale's is the everyday guy that is trying to do the right thing and raise his family the right way. The fascinating aspect of this movie was seeing each character flirt with the "other side". At times the characters appeared to straddle the imaginary line of right and wrong. Saying any more would give away some of the plot. The only part of the movie that I disagreed with was the value that a father has of a son's opinion of him. At one point every kid hates their father and it isn't until a different level of maturity is reached that a son can appreciate a father. For me that took away from the end of the movie just a little bit. follow me at https://IHATEBadMovies.com or https://www.facebook.com/IHateBadMovies/

One of my absolute favorite movies. The development of the relationship between the protagonist (Christian Bale) and the antagonist (Russell Crowe) from enemies to mutual respect is beautiful to watch. Director James Mangold created a movie that stands on its own and accomplishes something that's almost unheard of: Make a remake that's actually better than the original. 3:10 To Yuma is easily one of the best westerns made in the "new age". My personal number two after Unforgiven. It has the gravitas that westerns like Silverado or the (new) Magnificent Seven lack.

Ben Wade: Be careful with that thing. That gun's got a curse on it.

When you think about it, which I have been lately, is they weren't paying me to walk away. They were paying me so they could walk away.

The price of redemption -- READ THIS if you had problems with the ending

This remake involves the capture of a notorious outlaw, Ben Wade (Russell Crowe), who is then escorted to the town of Contention to await the train to Yuma, where he'll be hanged. A desperate rancher, Dan Evans (Christian Ba More

Most of the time I hate remakes....but I give a big pass to most Western and War movie remakes.

Mainly that's because, until M*A*S*H early war movies had soldiers that looked like they stepped out of the shower and put on a freshly laundered uniform...you know, instead of the realities of life in More

This is the best Western of the 21st Century so far (for mine, just edging out Django Unchained).

Building on the classic movie from 1957, James Mangold's remake adds in much needed scenes to fill plot holes and build nuanced characters that were sorely lacking in the original.
