The real problem here isn't that it's *that bad*. But you think you're tuning in to a cat movie, or maybe you've read enough to think "oh, it's an animal movie". And it sort of is but really it's about... Bees. This movie's main character is largely left waiting for attention and development so that attention can be given... to bees.

Bees are important, and entire books have been written on everything threatening them and what we can do about it. I don't mean to disparage what the movie is clearly trying to get across.

However, if you think you're tuning into literally anything but a bee movie... yeah.

While I'm here, it's of course obligatory to note that

Okay animated movie for kids but anybody older than 10 will likely be bored.

A little long and repetitive but an alright little animated movie. Watched it with my cat taking a nap right next to me and the first act was so cute and heartwarming. A very accurate portrayal of cats and you can tell the makers of this movie love cats. Beckett is a fun character with a good sense of humor. Whenever Bill Nighy as the evil professor of puns is on-screen he steals the spotlight though. The scene where he tells us about his past was hilarious. Nice animation it more than does the job. Past the first act it becomes a little repetitive and I got tired of the concept at some point. Never got used to the mix of cats and bees in the same movie, they do merge the two at some point but it felt forced (the inclusion of bees all together feels forced to begin with). Still, I had a good enough amount of fun and laughs.
