When Andrew Briggman—a young soldier in the US invasion of Afghanistan—witnesses other recruits killing innocent civilians under the direction of a sadistic Sergeant, he considers reporting them to higher-ups. However, the heavily-armed and increasingly-violent platoon becomes suspicious that someone in their ranks has turned on them, and Andrew begins to fear that he'll be the next target.

A harrowing, barefaced look at not only the atrocities of The Kill Team, but also America's actions in Afghanistan as a whole. Asks some poignant questions about the young, naive soldiers sent from smalltown America and how they are coerced by anger, fear and rank in the American military machine. While not a comfortable watch, it's definitely one that I'd recommend atleast watching once.

6.5/10 - What an emotional clusterfuck. I'm not even sure what to say here. What they did is clearly wrong and it's good that they got caught. However, the movie really plays with emotions by mixing joy, fear, friendship, horror, etc. While watching this it seemed difficult to tell what Andrew should do. Risk his life or "betray" his friends by doing the right thing. He was also portrayed as a really bad liar / whistleblower - I guess that isn't realistic. After watching it I'm just glad that justice prevailed and that it's over now. I guess the best thing about this movie is that it provides yet another new perspective on the war in Afghanistan and brings up a few important questions. Anyway, I hope the real story, that this fictionalized adaption is based on, is much "simpler" / less horrifying.

Very important subject. Tough situations. Glad this movie was made the massage is really important. I think soldiers suffer real deep mental illnesses. Maybe the world should stop causing wars, and make peace.

Dan Krauss's film depicts in stark terms the way war can strip souls of conscience, something made even more wrenching when viewed with the knowledge that it's based on horrific true events.
