Pretty bad. Brando was a real life troll pushing the boundaries of what he could do to amuse himself. Fair play to him.

Honestly; I watched this movie expecting it to be absolute trash… but it's not so bad, after all. Of course it's not a masterpiece, and it has its plot holes. But I think the acting is fine when you consider it's a movie about a bunch of deranged, psychologically damaged people. Maybe I'd be harsher if I read the book it's based on, yet I think there's some merit to it as a standalone film. David Thewlis' acting is probably the worst part (which is understandable considering how he was cast, not to mention the development hell overall), but everything else is fine for a mid 90s movie.

Rumors about The Island of Dr. Moreau’s suckage have been greatly exaggerated. The real problem with this film isn't so much that it's bad, but that it's not nearly as good as it should be considering the actors involved; on the other hand, it is precisely these individuals (and none more than Mar More
