It's actually a sad story, how quality became quantity... Pretty sure the first burgers weren't rubbish like nowadays.

Michael Keaton's character is a low lying manipulative sack of human shit that deserves to die in the worst possible way. Burger King forever.

@doriangrey That depends on your concept of "Great" movie. For me it's like... Lord of the Rings, Blade Runner, the first Alien...

@sowrongitsdavid The movie was not meant to glorify Ray Kroc. It was meant to show what he did and how he did it. If you look at 2015's "steve jobs" you'll see that Steve Jobs was not a great guy either! It's heartbreaking seeing him tell his daughter that the LISA computer isn't named after her. He belittles a child and basically calls her an idiot in not so many words for thinking the computer his company made which basically shares her name, isn't a coincidence. (Fun fact: he did name it after her, but was too proud to admit it. To. A. Child.) Wonderful visionary, brilliant businessman and pitchman, but a psychopath and not a good guy! And yet, he is worthy of the two or three decent films made about him (the others, in my opinion, being "Jobs" and "Pirates of Silicon Valley"). I like Ray Kroc far less than I liked Steve Jobs, but it made for an interesting movie. I liked it a little more than you and a little less than the first guy to reply to you.

By the way, no fast food burger quite matches the mixture of flavors of the Whopper. Ask for it "up" or "straight up" next time you order it. It'll skip the steamer and you'll get it straight off the broiler. Take it from a guy who worked there. I did. Took it, I mean. I never worked there. Friend did. But coast to coast, BK workers know what straight up means. It's how most of them order it. But BK fries are bad and BK should feel bad. McDonald's has good fries. Not the best. And they have better shakes, too. Their burgers aren't bad. But the thing about burgers, anyone can make a good burger. BK did something magical with just the right amount of everything, it's a great flavor. But if you want half a pound of good quality ground beef, cheddar or pepper jack cheese, applewood smoked bacon, crispy red onions, Roma tomatoes, iceberg or Romaine lettuce, garlic mayo, whatever your fancy, with a little skill you can make a burger that just annihilates anything in fast food. But it won't serve billions and billions like McDonald's did. Quality and quantity are two equally important factors.

And not for nothing, but Kroc did die, when I was 5, in 1984. He died before I ever had McDonald's, I think. I was a BK kid, didn't try McDonald's until later. I don't assume you didn't watch the "where are they now" bit at the ending. I'm just saying.

@davidisrad I think the fact that the movie made you feel this way proves that it was pretty good, or effective at least.

Wow, what a blast. This is the kind of biopic i like. Showing all sides and - by most of the time - not judgeing, just showing. Well, maybe there is judging, but not too much.

Michael Keaton plays the Kroc just right.

+ Great Michael Keaton
+ Good Mix of pro and con
+ Very honest biopic (Did McDonalds wanted to stop it? And why they didn't?)

9/10

What i don't understand: Why does Reviewers judge this movie by the reallife story and not by the movie itself? Of course Kroc did horrible, capitalistic decisions, but you have to say if the movie does it capture right.

It's a awesome sad true story movie, the movie deserves credit for not making all sunshine and rose's, he was a horrible person, that shouldn't have the luck he had, yet he did. Yes he risked everything he had. But he should have honoured the McDonald's brother's.

Great sad movie nonetheless

Here's another great movie that flew under the radar because Hollywood didn't properly promote it.

A fascinating tale and ultimately a sad one. Shed light on something I didn't know about the company and it riled me inside. Worth watching, though it was a little dry in places, so I wasn't lovin' it all the way through. Oh, and I ate a KFC while watching, so screw you Mr Kroc and your capitalist bull****.

I'm not sure how accurate this movie is to the reality of the beginnings of McDonalds, and I'd guess it's probably not very accurate at times, but it was an enjoyable story nevertheless. Good performances especially from Keaton. Never an empty scene so a decent drama.
