3 Thoughts After Watching ‘The Changeling’: 1. That, in my opinion, was NOT an easy story to follow. I get the basics, but the nitty gritty details were poorly executed. I hate when that happens. Make it make all the sense, please. 2. Maybe this film set a precedent/foundation for future “let’s solve the mystery of why I’m being haunted” films. Maybe not. But as a story on its own, it falls flat. Plot points felt random, without purpose, and wholly disconnected _(especially that ending)_. There was no big revelation. Everything kinda felt a bit pointless as the credits rolled. 3. When the first sign of a ghostly presence popped up — a single piano key played on its own — it became abundantly clear that I was in for an unimaginative haunted house journey. The haunts were indeed basic and not even a little spooky. With such a quality setting, and score, there was certainly potential for so much more.

I think I must have watched a different film to most of the reviewers. It was nonsense from start to finish. Terrible acting, ridiculous decisions that make the teens in slasher movies seem like Einstein, and it's so dated it looks much older than it is - especially when you consider that Alien and Star Wars came out a year earlier.

The first two acts were very slow but the last one was pretty awesome especially the staircase scene. My third George C. Scott movie. The more I watch of the two the more I think Michael Douglas could remake or stand-in for George.

A very good and sometimes scary movie starring George C. Scott. Scott's character witnesses the tragic death of his family in an accident then moves away to get on with his life. Trouble soon follows when a house he moves into starts trying to tell him something.
