3 Thoughts After Watching ‘Smile’:

1. Very _The Ring_. Very _It Follows_. Very _Drag Me to Hell_. It doesn’t venture into any new territory but, as with these other films, it’s a sufficiently-creepy ride with very convincing performances and a terrifying monster.

2. Many of the scares were basically ruined by the film’s trailer. I nearly saw every smile coming.

3. While the monster was definitely creepy — especially in it’s true form — I feel like it would’ve been better if it didn’t speak at all, and just smiled in silence the entire time.

A mix between babadook and it follows, horrific, makes you doubt everything. I liked it ! The shots were pretty cool too

A very good psychiatric thriller that presents an evil entity that enters peoples minds once they witness a suicide and then goes on to play tricks on them. Filming reality vs non non reality and the minds tricks is very well done in this film and keeps one on the edge of their seat. However, the big thing holding this movie back from being average is plot progression. The beginning felt rushed into for starters; and secondly, as the film went on it seemed (as one would expect from any movie) that this evil entity would get whats coming to it and the main characters would have a conclusion, but the ending revealed to be more of the same, as if nothing had changed from the start of the plot; essentially no climax.

Like "Brand New" on an old product's packaging, this looks like it's something different but when you open it up, you realize it's the same old stuff they've been dumping on you all along.

Yet another "Bitches be crazy" flick where a (we assume) competent, intelligent woman completely dissolves into a quaking puddle of hysteria the moment she confronts any kind of adversity. Thank goodness there's a strong male cop who loves her despite all her defaults.

This film has joined films like _Hypochondriac_ and _She Dies Tomorow_ in the list of horror films featuring a shallow, silly, over the top portrayal of mental illness. The premise of this film is quite interesting but the final result is just not as good as it sounds on paper and coming from a big commercial studio, I knew this would be loaded with cheap scares. Besides a few unsettling scenes, as a whole it doesn’t amount to more than a generic/boring plot masked by the smiling faces gimmick. The film's third act descends into silliness and utilizes every generic horror film trope out there, reminding me of _Barbarian_ which I hate with passion. I guess if you like that one, you'll probably enjoy this one.

It was alright, predictable and jumpscarey but didn't really have an ending. I was expecting them to do a kind of viral meta ending where she kills herself (alone) at the end, but she smiles directly into the camera, so now it's like **we** are the cursed. But it just ends...

It starts well, it goes well, the actress is fine, but in the end it makes no sense what she does being her and having those people around her

Wow, what a nothing burger of a movie that is. As a horror fan I believed the hype and saw it in a theater, all I got were cheap unrelated jump scares and a movie that's 25 mins too long.

That amazing that captures your full attention, leaves you scared and stressed and is totally memorable, which will now have multiple sequels that will never live up to this masterpiece

Very similar to *It Follows* and *The Ring*. It builds tension quite well and gives you a well crafted jump scare once in a while. I found some parts pretty scary. The camera work in here is top notch and so is the transition between scenes. The psychological horror elements weren't anything new or impressive but still pretty enjoyable. The story got very predictable but I loved the third act it was a blast and some nice CGI/practical effects? I wanted more smiles in the movie it feels like there weren't that many but then again too much would ruin it too. One things for sure I was smiling whenever it happened on screen! Would of liked more explanation as to what the hell kind of entity that was and why it likes to smile so much... I'm willing to bet this is getting a sequel.

Predictable plot, has some nicely done jumpscares. Saw it in the cinema but this would be better at night home alone instead of the snickering fools in the cinemaroom destroying any carefully built tension so my advice is to wait for the Blu-Ray.

An entertaining blend of unsettling sequences mixed with some decent jump scares that goes back and forth from being almost masterful to really dumb and on the nose. People behind us kept getting up to go to the bathroom and it was freaking me out so the movie must have been effective.
