By far the funniest movie ever, no matter how many times you see it. Still get steamed at the ending but you learn to live and let go.

Wanted to watch this since I saw the musical Spamalot. Very funny, yet very random. Made more sense seeing the musical I would imagine

If you like slapstick comedy and/or British humor, you will probably like this movie.

It's the first movie of Monty Python I've seen (and, as far as I understand it, also their first "real" movie) and I have to say I am really impressed. While there are some minor flaws, most of the jokes work really well and really did make me laugh.

The most obvious flaw to me was the runtime. One hour and 30 minutes felt a tad too long for the story they were trying to tell. I think a good twenty to thirty were a bit wasted setting up jokes that didn't really pay off.
That, plus the weird animations that I didn't really enjoyed, is the reason I'm rating it 8/10.

Overall, it's a movie worth watching. If you don't know Monty Python it's a good way to enter their world.
Considering the low budget and the relative inexperience with movies, Monty Python managed to create a very funny story and I can't wait to watch something else by them.

One of the all time classic movie comedies. "The Holy Grail" is funny grotesque and totally original. Each of the Monty Python cast is at their most entertaining and hilarious throughout. It's even more fun to try and spot all of the different roles each of them play. John Cleese scores highest here with his portrayal of the violent "Sir Lancelot the Brave" and "Tim the Enchanter".

Apart from some of the jokes mocking Christianity, the film was indeed hilarious, I am not a big fan of comedies and yet I was laughing almost all the time. I guess I was missing out a lot by not watching it before, and it was definitely worth trying. The film is not so much about the plot as the absurd humour and wordplay as well as some situational jokes. Don't skip the subtitles at the beginning as they are also very funny. There is also a lot of breaking the fourth wall and meta-stuff. Apart from some anti-religious sentiment, my only regret is that there was no Morgana or Mordred (Merlin was also absent but there was an equivalent in the form of the sorcerer Tim).

If you ever come to use in danger the Holy Hand Granade from Antioch remember this:
>"First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin. Then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it."

...or if you don't have it you just can say "Ni" that would also work. ;)
