Field of Dreams was a magical sentimental nostalgic mess. It had a rubbish script, terrible acting and subpar everything else, but it nevertheless managed to be charming. If you build it, he will come. If you build it, he will come. If you build it, he will come.

Magical movie. Iowa farmer Ray Kinsella is inspired by a voice he can't ignore to pursue a dream he can hardly believe. Supported by his wife, Ray begins the quest by turning his ordinary cornfield into a place where dreams can come true.

>"We just don't recognize life's most significant moments while they're happening. Back then I thought, "Well, there'll be other days." I didn't realize that that was the only day."

This movie is about regrets, following your dreams or attempting to follow them. Sometimes they don't work out, but that is ok. I really loved how supportive the family was in this film, and wish more people could be like that.

No doubt the best baseball/sports movie ever about a young family in Iowa whose head of the household has a painful past with baseball which is brought to the present as an unknown presence summons him to plow his cornfield and build a baseball field that magically creates a way for him to confront his past and bring to light the true meaning of life in his present. The casting, plot, and development of that plot is portrayed as well as a beautiful orchestra.

Some might say that's terrible kitsch with a mediocre awfully slow paced plot and mediocre actors. I think it's charming and magic. Like baseball. It's more than just a game.

I just watched it for the first time. Baseball means nothing to me and I still liked it.
The part where the kid falls was straight out of a soap opera. Some lines were pure cheese. But I still see why it's a classic. It's a charming family movie.

In this homage to baseball and dreams, our protagonist is having a mid life crisis and is driven to strange actions - but he doesn't know why. He builds a baseball field and searches out an aging writer and activist who ruled the 60s. Ironically, the purpose without clear purpose creates a sense of aimlessness which made me lose interest until the end. I also didn't care for the ho hum acceptance of magic. There are some sweet elements to this film - plus ray Liotta's smiling eyes - but all in all It's not super memorable and I wouldn't recommend it. I probably wouldn't watch it again.

While I didn't watch this movie in the 80's, I thought I was missing out on a "classic." I was kinda wrong. Too many times I had to remind myself to suspend disbelief while I let out a low chuckle. From the very first baseball card shot of "Shoeless" Joe Jackson, I knew there was going to be a quirkiness this movie. However, the magical charm kept me entertained.

The whole movie builds up to
a game of catch between Father and son
and all of the build up was just low fantasy with a baseball theme. There are no answers in this story just a bunch of second chances.

I've heard about this movie so many times so I had high expectations but wow was I disappointed. Just absurdity without any reason for being absurd.
