Started off promising but quickly fell apart. Casting Matt Damon as a hero from a Latinx area is pretty gross, particularly since Damon was acted under the table by his more talented costars who would've made much more compelling main characters. And if they were determined to present us with a white savior, could they at least cast an actor who can speak Spanish as if he grew up speaking it and not like he's using DuoLingo in between shoots??

The action scenes were pretty boring and given priority over world-building, unfortunate for this premise. The systemic and class critique was totally lost by the shift in focus from Jodi Foster, a racist classist scheming politician, to Sharlto Copley, the ridiculous scene-chewing mercenary she hires to do her dirty work.

There was a lot of sloppy details for a movie in this genre. I could not get over them screwing a metal frame directly into Matt Damon's spine, as if that wouldn't kill or paralyze him, without even removing his dirty, sweaty, radioactive shirt first. And then he's up and moving around, fighting, minutes later!

Almost good, and almost so bad it's good, but sadly fails to be either. Kept a few stars for an interesting premise and some stunning visuals.
