U.S. soldier Frank Dux has come to Hong Kong to be accepted into the Kumite, a highly secret and extremely violent martial arts competition. While trying to gain access into the underground world of clandestine fighters, he also has to avoid military officers who consider him to be AWOL. After enduring a difficult training and beginning a romance with journalist Janice Kent, Frank is given the opportunity to fight. But can he survive?

This movie is pretty good in sport movies genre, Bolo Yeoung is very convincing as a relentless and tenacious fighter. Van Damme is the fighter that never surrender, that proves his value with sacrifice, both of them are the best of the movie. The Kumite and Kowloon setting makes the torunament clandestine but legendary and convincing. This movie would be perfect if only the one Brazilian fighter makes Capoeira instead just boxing. overall, Bloodsport is a very good class B movie and one of the finest sports movie ever released.

Definitely NOT my first time to watch this and (probably) won't be my last. But to be fair, this time, I _did_ fast-forward through all the boring parts (the romance, the hospital visits, the ride around Hong Kong at night, etc) and just watched the action parts. I mean, I've seen the movie; I know More

I've been pretty harsh reviewing Jean-Claude Van Damme movies, and even though he is significantly older than me, I have the feeling he can still kick my butt, so maybe I should back off a little.
