I've smiled about 3-4 times. Not laughed at all although I usually do on comedies. Not very funny, overrated IMHO.

I totally agree: it's either stupid, or we didn't get it.

This movie reminds me of a lot of moments I’ve had with my dad. We’ve watched this movie a lot together. (Of course skipping over about 5 minutes or so because it’s always awkward to watch
love making scenes
with your parents) I think the thing that makes this movie great for me isn’t really the movie itself but the quotable dialogue and how frequently it’s been used throughout my life. It’s a silly movie with a dumb premise based around sexist characters and there’s barely any character development, but I don’t think it’s suppose to be about how the characters grow and change. It’s just a movie about a guy who is a dog-loving, jazz flute playing, sexist anchorman.

I don’t know why but I love this movie more than I should. Anchorman is the greatest comedy movie of the 2000s. This movie mastered the art of being stupid. So many times I was thinking “Wait what” it’s just stupidly brilliant. The jokes are consistent and brilliantly written. There’s also a lot of funny one liners. The plot is really good it’s predictable but it’s not. The cast is great there’s a variety of cameos from comedy actors. The acting is great Will Ferrell is great, Steve Carrell is the best, Paul Rudd is good as well as David Koechner, and Christina Applegate is very good. The whole team has great chemistry and the characters are memorable. My favorite scene in the whole movie is the fight scene between all the news team, it’s just out of the blue and stupid that’s make it great. There is also scenes like that which are great like the flute scene, pleasure town, and the afternoon delight. Overall it’s an obvious guilty pleasure for me and a very hilarious movie.

Worst movie I’ve ever seen. Didn’t laugh once from the exaggerated acting. Can’t believe this was a hit. Awkward humour worked in The Office but in this it was straight up cringy and unbearable

The comedy aged like milk just like many of the movies from this era, this was just worser because of the characters.

I tried, I really tried, but I don't really enjoy Will Ferrell. Here and there, you can say there is something funny, but, overall, the whole performance is flat, and it hardly made me laugh. It was interesting, though, the whole show of actors, Steve Carrel, Christina Applegate, Danny Trejo, Ben Stiller, Tim Robbins, just to name a few, a few nice punch lines, but that was it. Oh, and of course the scene of the well-known meme "Boy, that escalated quickly". Besides that, I think that this is an overrated movie.

This is worse than a dumb comedy. Rest assured, it's pitifully stupid in its creation, but in addition, it's harmful in that makes a joke out of ingrained sexism and misogyny, homophobia, and ableism. This movie is really a disgrace, and there was nothing funny about, unsurprising given that those who wrote and produced it clearly thought that hate and violence against vulnerable individuals and communities was funny.

This was like a stupid parody film but they should’ve done that from the beginning bc the first bit of the film was misogynistic and then trying to present him positively. But then other parts were sarcastic and making fun of the main guy - it was confusing and idek what angle they intended

Despite its cult film status and my unconditional love for absurdist comedies with satirical overtones, this was way more eye-roll-inducing than it was funny. Kept my poker face stable throughout the 90 minutes. Maybe it could have been a decent comedy skit within a TV show.

This was just...bad. It certainly has its moments, many of them surprisingly funny and endearing. While the film does feature some fair commentary on a previous generation's reaction to an increase in diversity amidst changing times, in the end it wants us to root for characters who never change and behave as childish, impish villains, which makes this film, among other things, oddly disturbing and faintly problematic.

One pleasure I experienced during this show was the incredibly star-studded cast, which I wasn't quite expecting; seeing now-famous actors and actresses such as Chris Parnell, Seth Rogan, Kathryn Hahn and Danny Trejo playing very minor characters was a pleasant surprised, especially since you never know when they'll show up on screen.

This is a weird one; you can sense Adam McKay’s stamp in the deeper themes about sexism and objectification boiling under the surface. However, the comedy he throws on top of that is so lowbrow and silly that it barely feels like the Adam McKay we know today. I found the shtick of the four main actors/characters to be incredibly annoying (and also pretty creepy given the societal advancements that have happened since the release of this film), which would be fine if it was intended to be annoying, but I’m pretty sure there’s meant to be a goofy charm and endearing quality to them. It’s aged kinda poorly, not a fan.

3/10

Also, what’s going with the sound mixing and panning in this film? It’s really awful, this film is in desperate need of a remaster.

No full blown review for this one, since I only saw the first 2/3rds on cable in a hotel room with commercial interruptions. But I gotta say, this one holds up in terms of sheer comic absurdity and a lot of great comedians pitching their fastball here. The laughs are plentiful and ridiculous, and you can even see the roots of Adam McKay's style that would carry over to his more dramatic films. I loved this movie to pieces as a teenager, and I was worried it wouldn't hold up (and frankly, there's some parts that do make you cringe a bit almost two decades later), but the comedy's still stupendous and it's just a fun movie to flip on and laugh your way through, even chopped up with ads while channel flipping.

Honestly not that good. Reputation proceeds it but once you watch it, eh. There was only one good character and that was Brick other than that I found most characters to be overly childish and lacking in charm. Storyline wasn't too interesting either but I understand this is a comedy movie and story telling isn't the focus. I'd recommend it only if you're out of ideas for a comedy. 4/10
