I read the book last summer and was super excited to learn that a movie was in the works. Elle Fanning was a good choice in casting, she is sort of what I envisioned Violet Markey to look like. Finch was portrayed nicely by Justice Smith though he in no way resembles the Finch from the books, but that detail could be overlooked. What couldn't be overlooked was the lack of depth in the movie in comparison to the novel. A lot of backstory was left out and the altering of certain events was in my opinion a mistake. I feel like they focused to much on the blooming romance between Violet and Finch and not nearly enough on the mental health of both characters, making them feel a bit flat.
The movie could have done with a voice-over for both Violet and Finch since you follow their journeys in a similar matter through the novel.
I enjoyed the movie because I could fill in the blanks where I needed because I read the book. Casting was good, acting was good. Story wise it could have been lots and lots better.

A dark but real movie. I won't lie it's quite depressing at time, but wonderful nonetheless. You'll laugh but mostly cry.
Justice Smith and Elle Fanning did a great job.

When times are dark, and when all feels hopeless, remember all the bright places. And take solace in them with the knowledge that, while life can be hard and unbearable at times, there are more bright places to come, no matter how difficult that can be to imagine.

The film valiantly tries to explore the subject of mental illness, and while it meanders at times, it mostly succeeds in its telling. We don't know what other people are going through. We can become complacent within our attitudes to others. And we sometimes find ourselves in that hopeless position of regret, with those 'what if' thoughts that can trouble our mind.

A film that resonated with me on mutiple levels, with my own struggles and with the struggles that people close to me have undergone.

Seek help if you know you need it, and look after the people in your life, as they might just need your smile, your kind word, and your hand of support.

I'm just gonna say: Beautiful work. It feels heartbreaking, funny and completely REAL.

Incredible work from the cast. I could feel the same emotions that the characters had, that because Justice Smith and Elle Fanning had it clear, they wanted to made it seen real and that is what they did.
It's a very sad story (not gonna lie, I cried, a LOT), addresses sensitive and strong issues about death, depression, suicide, and certain mental disorders. However, it also tells us about how overcoming and knowing ourselves and finding ourselves.
So, if you are a very sensitive person, I don't recommend it. I warn you.

Not the best movie that I seen in this year but personaly, I enjoyed it crying and laughing a little bit.

It was a typical romantic film but couldn't depict the story well. Same old story, a very energetic boy tries to inspire a girl to live happily as the boy falls in love with the girl at first sight and keeps convincing the girl to perform a task with him. In the process the boy shows affection and the girl falls for him too. It's kind of story where he falls first but she falls harder. When the boy gets to intimate with the girl, suddenly he disappears or decides not to see her anymore. It turns out he is suffering from some diseases or problems. As a result the boy dies leaving the girl alone and leaves his memories and strong personality.
Same things happened in this movie. I can name some movies with same story. The fault in our stars, Keith etc.

It was mediocre at best. Both actors weren't convincing at all in their roles.

All the Bright Places is a touching romantic drama with a powerful message. Elle Fanning stars as a troubled teenager dealing with her sister’s death who slowly begins to heal when one of her classmates befriends her and shows her the beauty in life, but she soon finds that he has troubles of his own. Both Fanning and her co-star Justice Smith give excellent performances. And the film does an impressive job at discussing mental illness and depression, along with how to appreciate the little things in life. Also, the soundtrack does an especially good job at setting the emotional tone. Remarkably well-crafted, All the Bright Places an extraordinarily compelling film.
